Tao cases of general paresis in young adults

Abstract
In this paper we have presented two cases of relatively young paretics, 24 and 30 years old respectively, who had bean admitted to the department of neuropsychiatry, Chung-Ang University, School of Medicine, and the results were as follows;
1) It was revealed that both cases had favorable outcome possibly due to prompt therapeutic intervention with penicillin and early appearance of symptoms before the age of 30 as a result of short incubation period.
2) Although we had some difficulty to differentiate them from paranoid schizophrenia in the first case and from personality disorder in the second case, Positive reactions of STS in serum and in CSF support to reach confirmative diagnosis.
3) Since it was evident that general paresis can also occur in the 3rd decade, according to the fact that the lowering trend in the age of onset in primary syphilis resulting from confused sexual morale among young adults, it was highly hopeful to check routine STS to all patients over the 3rd decade.
